Hot Stone Massage

  • Specialty massage that uses smooth heated stones (basalt, black volcanic rock that absorbs and retains heat well)
  • Basalt stones of various sizes, shapes, and weights are used throughout, as well as placed on the body.
  • Stones were used for healing in Native America, South America, Africa, Europe, Egypt, India, and China
  • It is a deeply soothing, relaxing form of massage
  • The heat helps tight muscles release, increases circulation, and aids in mental relaxation
  • Before you arrive the Massage Therapist sanitizes the stones and heats them in 120-140 degree water
  • A Hot Stone Massage is more expensive than a basic Swedish Massage because it requires more preparation and clean up time as well as equipment (tools).
  • The therapist uses traditional strokes of Swedish Massage while holding a heated stone, as the stone cools, the therapist replaces it with another
  • The therapist also places heated stones on specific points along your spine, or in the palms of your hands, and even between your toes to improve the flow of energy in your body
  • You should always speak up if the stones feel too warm or the pressure is too intense
  • Our treatments are all given by Registered Massage Therapists so if you have Massage Therapy Coverage you can submit your Hot Stone Massage receipt for reimbursement
  • Be sure to check if your coverage has a maximum per treatment
  • If you have Cardiovascular Disease, Diabetes, MS, altered sensation, or are pregnant you should seek advice from your doctor first about having a heat treatment. Feverish clients should reschedule.
